On December 5, 2004, Abou Bakari falls into a coma at the police station where Courbevoie he was in custody for want of valid documents. He died without regaining consciousness 24 January 2005.

Amnesty International mentions this case in its report on police violence in France.

6 years after the death of Abu Bakari, his close association and support still awaiting the conclusions of Justice.

> In July 2009, forensic experts were able to make their final conclusions, the medical record with Abu Bakari finally been found after being "lost" for several years.

> These findings are inconsistent with the testimony of the police officers of Courbevoie, including origin of the coma.
